the cold white light
flickers and dies in the nothingness
the echo of dead stars
fades into absolute emptiness
cruel winds sweep across the desolate plains
of this irradiated landfill we used to call our home
what once was is now gone
and shall never be again
dark clouds lay their blessing upon the world below
black liquid corroding the last bones not yet buried by the glowing sands
there is no healing rain
the flowers are dead now
the towering monoliths of twisted metal and concrete
last reminders of a failed existence that walked upon this earth
no longer loom in the horizon
now emtombed by the dead matter of a dying world
was it our insanity that finally took control
and devoured us with it's purifying fire
or some greater entity that wiped our insignificant beings
from the face of the world
there are no questions left to be answered
nor do they matter anymore
for no one will ever know
that we were even here
